Disney PhotoPass & Memory Maker: How They Work in 2026

Disney PhotoPass is the resort’s professional photography service — cast members stationed at iconic locations across the parks who’ll take photos of your party, with your family in every frame instead of the usual “one parent always missing.” Photos sync to your My Disney Experience account within minutes and stay there for 45 days, ready to download.

For families who want unlimited high-resolution downloads of every photo, Memory Maker is the optional add-on. Here’s what every Disney World visitor should know about both.

How PhotoPass works

The system is digital and frictionless — no more physical cards.

1. A PhotoPass photographer takes your group’s photo (or your character interaction, or your fireworks shot).
2. They scan your MagicBand+, MagicMobile pass, or My Disney Experience app barcode.
3. The photo appears in your My Disney Experience account within ~5 minutes.
4. You browse, share, and (with Memory Maker) download from the app or website.

Photos remain in your account for 45 days after they’re taken. Without Memory Maker you can view low-res previews and share watermarked versions; high-res unwatermarked downloads require either Memory Maker or per-photo purchase.

Where to find PhotoPass photographers

Cast photographers are stationed at park icons, character meet-and-greets, dining experiences, and select on-ride photo points:

• Magic Kingdom — Cinderella Castle, Main Street partners statue, Splash Mountain–style on-ride photos, Buzz Lightyear targets
• EPCOT — Spaceship Earth icon, World Showcase pavilions, Frozen Ever After on-ride photo
• Hollywood Studios — Tower of Terror & Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on-ride, Toy Story Land
• Animal Kingdom — Tree of Life, Pandora bioluminescence at night, Expedition Everest on-ride
• Resorts — Most deluxe and several moderate resorts have lobby photographers
• Character meals — Every photo from breakfast at Akershus, lunch at Crystal Palace, etc., comes free with the meal

Look for the PhotoPass logo on the photographer’s lanyard — that’s how you know it’s a Disney photographer and not a guest’s family member.

Memory Maker pricing

Memory Maker is the unlimited-download package. Two ways to buy:

The Disney+ subscriber perk

If you have an active Disney+ Premium subscription, you get complimentary Disney PhotoPass downloads during park visits (US residents only, terms apply). The perk doesn’t always include attraction on-ride photos or special experiences (like Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique), but it covers most standard PhotoPass shots — a real savings if you’re already paying for Disney+.

Verify the benefit is active on your account before your trip and that your Disney+ profile is linked to your My Disney Experience account.

Our advisors’ tips

• Take selfies of the back of the photographer’s badge isn’t needed anymore — everything syncs to MagicBand+/app automatically. The old “16-digit card” system was retired in 2013.
• Ask for “magic shots.” PhotoPass photographers can add character overlays, themed effects, and motion to your photos. Always say yes — it’s free.
• Hand your phone to the photographer too. Most will take a quick second shot with your phone after the official PhotoPass shot. Etiquette: ask once, don’t insist if they decline.
• Character meal photos are included. If you booked a character breakfast, all the character interaction photos hit your account automatically — they’re worth Memory Maker on their own for one trip with multiple character meals.
• Photos disappear after 45 days. Download anything you want to keep before that window closes.
• Capture Your Moment is Disney’s premium photo experience — a dedicated 20-minute photo shoot at an iconic park location with one photographer assigned to your family. Currently $79. Not bundled with Memory Maker; book through the Disney PhotoPass site.
